1. Thank you Social and Caring Committee for having organized games, food, etc., in our last Lunar New Year Celebration. We thank Bonny who took the leading role in this celebration.
2. "40 Days of Community" Lenten Small Group Campaign
For a period of forty consecutive days, we will have a campaign for the whole parish in small groups which runs from February 26th until April 8th. We will adopt Rev. Rick Warren's "40 Days of Community" for everyone to learn to reach out to the community together. Small Group Member's Handbook of "Better Together ¡K" is available for $8.40 each, All small groups are invited to participate in this campaign. Please register with your group leader.
a. An information session is scheduled on Sunday, February 5th , from 1:15 p.m. to 3 p.m. Group leaders and those who are interested in being group leaders are invited to join it.
b. Concession Coupon for 40 Days of Community-To motivate every member of us getting his/her own handbook, our caring virtue is put into practice. Those who would like this coupon may get it either from our warden or incumbent and may get a handbook for free at the same time. If you are so kind as to financially support this practice of caring, you are welcome to make Special Offering noting "40 Days of Community".
3. Mandarin Worship
The first all Mandarin worship service was held last Sunday morning in the Chinese New Year. Service started at 9:30 a.m. Please pray for this new beginning. Please contact Rev. Der for more information or if you would like to assist in this service.
4. Four Cell Groups Established Within Golden Age Fellowship
4 cell groups were established last month within Golden Age Fellowship which meets on Wednesdays. They are namely: Wisdom, (led by B Z Xing); Peace, (by J W Wang); Love, (by B Z Han) and Joy, (by X J Guan). Please pray for the new cell groups and their leaders
5. St. Elizabeth's Outreach Centre
Our Outreach Centre (ORC) is a channel which opens our door to the public through the various interest classes. When parishioners become friends with members of ORC, it cultivates the atmosphere for spreading the Gospel. Your enthusiastic participation in the classes is strongly encouraged:
a. Line Dance Class - Instructed by Sunny Wong, Fridays from 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
b. Tai Chi Rouli Ball Beginners Class - Instructed by Min Liu, Saturday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. $60.- for 12 sessions. Liaise with Josephine Cheung about registration.
c. Tai Chi Rouli Ball Intermediate Class - Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.
d. Badminton Night - 8:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Wednesday at St. Raymond Catholic School, 5735 Whitehorn Avenue. $2.- for each adult and free of charge for child below twelve.
6. 2011 Annual Report
Our Annual Report will be published soon. Department heads and small group leaders are invited to write a half-page report on the development of their ministries/small groups. Either English or Chinese is welcome. Please give your reports to Fenella ASAP. Thank you!
7. Worship Roster Compilation
With immediate effect, Fenella is responsible for compiling Worship Roster, so as to let our incumbent focus more on the caring of the ministry of the parish. If in case you cannot serve due to vacationing etc., please let Fenella know or email her at ( fenella_chiu@hotmail.com ).
8. Choir Night Thursday
Choir rehearsals are resuming on February 16, and will take place at church from 7:45-9 p.m. every Thursday until Easter. We will be learning sacred music in preparation for Good Friday and Easter. Interested choristers of all ages are welcome and should contact Jennifer Loo directly or by email at jenniferloo88@yahoo.ca . Come join us in song and fellowship as we lift up our voices to the Lord!
9. Keep the Church Tidy
Our church is our spiritual home and she is also the spiritual home of many in our community. Please kindly keep the place tidy after use, so that the next group of people will have a clean place to u.se10. Next Sunday
a. Cantonese Worship- We are honoured that Professor and Medium Professional M Y Chan of Ryerson University will come and preach us a sermon on Lving Together In Harmony.
b. English Worship-On the same day, Brother Randy Greve of York/Crdit Valley Youth Ministry comes to give a sermon and lead our Youth Group.
c. There is a PAB Meeting after worship service. Members please attend.
11. Church donation envelopes are available at the front desk. For those who have envelope numbers, you have four different kinds of envelopes: Operation, Thanksgiving, Building, and Special. Donations of over $15 within a year will receive a tax receipt. If you would like to have an envelope number, please contact Amy Chiu.
